Our client approached us with future planning in mind. How could we create a space for an aging family member to live close to their loved ones while maintaining their independence?

Our solution was a 420-square-foot standalone ADU on the property. We used advanced building systems to minimize waste and selected eco-friendly materials to keep the budget manageable.

The living space features our interpretation of a modern bay window. It provides extra seating in the living area with storage below, eliminating the need for additional furniture. It offers views of the shared rear yard and fills the room with natural daylight. It’s a perfect spot to read, a place for grandchildren to hang out, and a cozy nook for a fluffy companion to nestle in for a long afternoon nap. Even though this home is considered “tiny,” it has everything you need in a compact, efficient footprint.
